Midwifery Training & Experience

I attended Maternidad La Luz, an accredited midwifery school and freestanding birth center on the U.S.–Mexico border in El Paso, Texas. After completing the three-year advanced midwifery program, I became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I returned to Arizona and founded Sunrise Midwifery in October 2004. Additionally, I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with advanced training in breastfeeding and human lactation.

I am licensed to practice midwifery in Arizona and New Mexico and have dedicated more than 25 years to caring for mothers, babies, and families.

About me

Meg became a Licensed Midwife in 2014 after completing a four-year apprenticeship with Sunrise Midwifery. She is also a childbirth educator and lactation counselor, bringing a well-rounded perspective to the care and support she provides to growing families.  Meg is the wife of a firefighter and a proud mother of five—one adult son, two teenage daughters, and a young boy and girl whom she is currently focused on raising. Her youngest child was born at home, allowing her to experience her own dream birth firsthand. Her personal experience through the many stages of motherhood has given her a deep appreciation for the joys, challenges, and transitions that come with growing a family.  Outside of midwifery, Meg enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and values the opportunity to serve others through both her faith and her work as a midwife.

Ashley is a Birth Assistant, Doula, and Certified Lamaze Educator with Sunrise Midwifery. She holds a master’s degree and has completed extensive specialized training and hands-on workshops in birth assisting, bringing a strong educational foundation and practical experience to the families she serves.  Ashley provides engaging, evidence-based childbirth education to Sunrise families as well as to the community. She is also an herbalist and a certified yoga and meditation instructor. A passionate educator and award-winning entrepreneur, Ashley brings creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of learning to her work. She is passionate about helping families feel informed, confident, and prepared for the birth of their baby.  When she’s not attending births or teaching childbirth classes, Ashley enjoys crafting, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and their two rambunctious little boys.
